Berwick and Newport finally got to battle out their final Premier League encounter at Shielfield Park last night having beaten the wiles of the Northumbrian weather at the third time of asking.
The Berwick Bandits set out on the final leg of their Southern tour to wrap up their away Premier League commitments for the 2011 season at the Rye House Rockets yesterday afternoon, a venue that is normally a track of disasters for the visiting Northumbrians.
The Berwick Bandits moved on to South Wales last night at the new home of their former number one, Charlie Gjedde, Newport Friday night again in the Premier League with confidences running high a good result was anticipated.
Newport, however are THE team of the moment in the League and proved their undoubted class by taking 12 of the 15 heat wins
The Berwick Bandits, last night, got their three-day southern tour underway with what was always expected to be a tight and hard-fought Premier League match at the Plymouth Devils and so it proved to be as it went to the wire.
For the second time in three weeks the Newcastle Diamonds played host to the Berwick Bandits in the second phase of the Premier League, with the visitors desperately keen to avenge their previous seven point defeat in the tense battle, but by comparison the early October visit was a pail imitation of intensity compared to last night.
