Thursday date with the Witches for the Bandits
After a number of weeks off since the Berwick "KLS" Bandits (Powered by Mike Hope of Wooler) closed their home SGB Championship season, they resume their away schedule on Thursday with a league visit to the Ipswich Witches, with every point vital as the Border side have just dropped out of the all-important top four play-off positions, and are desperate to regain that status.
Berwick are currently in sixth place on 30 points with the Witches in fifth on 31, both eager to leap-frog Lakeside in fourth on 32 points, so with four league points available to the Bandits, it's going to be all-out action from the top of the show throughout.
Berwick's top two have swapped positions again according to the averages, with Aaron Summers now back in the number one jacket and skipper Kevin Doolan at number two, while otherwise are continuing at full strength, delighting team manager Scott Courtney, who said: "To be able to put a side out at full strength at this stage of the season is testament to the good run we've had and it means we can give a real push to the end of the season's activities with a league championship still to go for.
"Ipswich will give us a stern test on Thursday despite their injury issues, and have Drew Kemp at reserve who is a 16 year-old with massive potential and has already given a few big names some scares to think about. It'll be tough, but if we want play-off matches, the guys know they cannot be complacent and have to go for it - or their season will be over sooner than later."
