Diamonds in town tonight at 7

It's local derby weekend for the Berwick Bandits and Newcastle Diamonds this weekend with the Tyneside side visiting Shielfield Park tonight at 7.00pm in the SGB Championship league.

Berwick's unlucky - but recently uplifting season was sweating earlier this week on new about Nick Morris who was involved in a crash which saw Glasgow's Nike Lunna call time on his 2017 season, but thankfully soon discovered that the powerful Aussie at number one will indeed be back in his Bandits' saddle come tonight's local derby with Newcastle as Scott Courtney explained.

"Thankfully Nick will be back tonight," he confirmed, "but we're all wondering about our first choice of guest for Lee Payne at the reserve spot as Jack Parkinson-Blackburn crashed out of his World 250cc Speedway Championship semi-final damaging his shoulder in the process, so we're all hoping he will be with us tonight and firing fully fit. Otherwise we will be a full strength and going for our fourth home win in a row!"

Newcastle have a weekend of changes to deal with too as George English said this morning: "Robert Lambert won't be with us at all this weekend as tonight he races in the next round of the World Under-21 Final, and as this is a recognised FIM affiliated event we have a guest facility granted with Edinburgh's bang in form Ricky Wells donning out number one jacket at Shielfield Park in what should be a good match which we will be looking to continue our recent good away form, although with Berwick's improved form of late nothing is certain."
