SGB Championship at Ipswich rained off

The SGB Championship match at Foxhall on Thursday April 27th between Ipswich and Berwick was called off shortly after seven due to a waterlogged track.

No restaging date has been arranged as yet.

When Berwick’s Olympus Marquees Bandits (powered by Mike Hope of Wooler) roll out their bikes on Thursday at Ipswich, and again at home on Saturday night, their line-up will have a very different look about it!

“Sadly, the team as signed up at the start of the season has so far proved to be less than successful,” admitted team manager and co-owner Gary Havelock.

It may have been a another night of frustration and disappointment in the Olympus Marquees Berwick Bandits (Powered by Mike Hope, Wooler) camp after Scunthorpe came and took a six point Championship victory, but there were glimpses of light peaking between the cracks as Lewis Bridger discovered that, mounted on Liam Carr's machinery, he was unbeatable by a Scorpion in his the two races he took on the Carr-mobile.

Bandits Welcome Guest Bacon For Blacklock

The Olympus Marquees Berwick Bandits (Powered by Mike Hope, Wooler) are continuing their early season without Ryan Blacklock, who after a promising start ended up with a back injury sustained at Ipswich in the Knockout Cup.

The good news is Frenchman Dimitri Berge (R in the above Colin Poole Photo) is back in harness after his injury woes have subsided and is back to full fitness and raring to get back to action.

Glasgow off

Unfortunately the wet Easter weather on Clydeside has caused the calling off of today's SGB Championship match against Berwick.

Currently no new date has been arranged.

Saturday's match against Glasgow should have been Berwick's first SGB Championship win had it not been for a post-interval malaise. Pre-break Berwick were leading 34-26, but after the interval Glasgow ended the match winning the final five races 10-20 when Glasgow turned the screws and Berwick's cracks split open wide.

"Its one in and one out tonight with the good news coming from Liam [Carr] who has reported his shoulder its fine and will race tonight, but Dimitri [Berge] has come back to us advising us his damaged wrist is not right and will have to sit out our clash with Glasgow Tigers.
